In Depth

Christianity, like Judaism and Islam follow the lineage of Abraham. Unlike Judaism Christians follow the teachings of the New Testament as well as the Old Testament. Islam continues with the teachings of the Qu'ran, and do not view Jesus as the son of God.

Most Christians regard Jesus as the son of God. They believe that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit make up the Holy Trinity, and the three are separate, but One. Most Christians believe that Jesus co-existed with God before the creation of the world, was born to the Virgin Mary, lived and taught the way of His Father, was crucified, resurrected and ascended to Heaven, where he joined His Father.

Christianity is fundamentally a religion of tolerance, but like other religious groups, has fought violent wars to support its point of view. Most Christians view mankind as inherently sinful and need to beg the forgiveness of the Savior, who will purify their souls. Christians believe in baptism and confirmation of baptism as necessary steps to salvation.

Due to the many divisions of Christianity more detailed study is required.
